ABOUT US
since 1999
I was a top-producing realtor at the peak of my career with a #1 in the World Dallas-Ft Worth Century 21 office. Mike had a long history with JC Penney and had just been asked to become district manager over housekeeping for 14 of Penney's department stores in the DFW metroplex. We juggled our full-time jobs with taking care of family members with serious medical issues. Our schedules were relentless for years, dotted with one doctor's appointment after the other. We took it like troopers, but the yearning to reinvent ourselves was always there.
It was a crisp January morning, after the sudden passing of my dear mother-in-love, that we contacted a historic Oklahoma hotel/restaurant in need of managers.
Mike's eyes sparkle when he talks about this area of Oklahoma where the "jeepers" go: mudslinging, wench-reeling, mountain-climbing crazy boys who live their days off-road. You see, Mike is adventurous and coupled with my willingness to try new things, no one was really surprised to see us testing new waters.
We reinvented ourselves with a passion and starting there at Clayton Country Inn and Restaurant. We consistently exceeded their goals, breaking records on bookings and the number of patrons served. We loved working hard together. This was our first new beginning.
Our second new beginning started as a joke. We got a teasing note from my dear sister-in-love about a mountaineering lodge in Oregon that was in need of managers. Could we trade sweltering summers for a log cabin buried in six feet of snow for half the year? But she was serious about helping with our loved one, so that is when we moved 2,500 miles to live and work at Mazama Lodge. We hosted ski teams, youth groups, mountaineers, avalanche/ice rescue schools and even accommodated weddings for the lodge members. It was hard "baptized by fire" work. Mike meticulously navigated the kitchen with precision while I handled all the budgeting, marketing, preparing contracts and scheduling events.
After my precious father-in-love lost his battle with Alzheimer's, we returned to the South for yet another new beginning. We now are going on our seventh year, at the Corrigan-Goddard Ranch; where Mike has gained even more gourmet cooking experience and I have focused on my love of baking. I call myself Mike's "sousweet" chef. We both shop and clean together because it's fun being with my hunnie. Did I tell you that we are crazy in love with one another?
As I already mentioned, Mike has an adventurous side to him and coupled with my willingness to try new things ... .
How may we serve you?
